Swell Picking Up Thru Today...   (Oct. 29th 10:19:52 AM)


The official waiting period for has begun for the 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear, with the first day of competition now being forecast for Monday, October 29.

The new NW swell expected for today (Sunday) arrives later than projected. Surf should built through the day into chest to head high sets by the late afternoon, making for a very probably Monday Day 1 start.

The heat draw is available online and is posted on site at Sunset Beach, and will make for exciting match-ups as soon as the first heat hits the water.

Watch for top seed Jordy Smith - who's already secured his place on next year's WCT - in the Round of 64. 2006 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear champion Evan Valiere of Kauai will also begin competition in the Round of 64, as will last year's finalists Gavin Beschen, Michel Bourez, and Makua Rothman.

All rounds will be streaming live online at www.xcelwetsuits.com, thanks to Surfing Live's state-of-the-art Webcast showcasing all the action and excitement of this 4-Star contest.

The first round, Round of 132, will see six-man heats battle it out for places in later rounds of the event. A top three finish in the Round of 132 will ensure a place in the Round of 96. From there, heats are condensed to four surfers each, with only the top two finishers advancing through.
