Forecasts are predicting big things for the 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear! Just one day into the official waiting period, forecasts show potential for the biggest waves to hit the North Shore so far this season - prime contest conditions to kick off the winter.
A Sunday start is increasingly likely, as an increasing WNW-NW swill should build late Saturday into Sunday. With a gale moving into the far northwest Pacific, wave faces could reach 8' or greater by the afternoon.
Monday should also bring Day 2 competition, as the WNW-NW swell is expected to peak early Monday, with 6' to 10' faces and E-ESE tradewinds at 5 to 15+ knots.
Battling for valuable ratings points and a $75,000 total purse, talented local and international surfers find their way to the North Shore in time for the weekend, preparing for this 4-Star WQS event.
The 2007 Xcel Pro Presented by No Fear is the only WQS contest held on Oahu's North Shore before the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing begins in November.
